Shapemaster are delighted to announce a 1 day training programme on ‘Power Assisted Exercise: Instruction & Supervision’ will take place on 6th July 2016 at Montem Leisure Centre in Slough.

The content and delivery of this course (specifically designed for staff members working with power assisted exercise equipment) has been developed by the Physiotherapy team at Sheffield Hallam University and completion of the course will lead to a certificate of attendance.


6th JULY 2016  


The course will introduce attendees to the risks associated with a sedentary lifestyle and the benefits of associated with an exercise programme. The science underpinning the key human biological systems will be outlined and applied to the use of power assisted equipment. Common long term conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity will be introduced. The programme will include ways in which power assisted exercise can be safely adapted for people with long term conditions and elderly groups.

By the end of the course participants will have knowledge of:

  • Major bones and muscle groups
  • Cardio-respiratory system
  • Metabolic system
  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Obesity
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Neurological Conditions

By the end of the course participants will have skills in:

  • Assessing clients for power assisted exercise
  • Identifying risk factors relevant to exercise
  • Monitoring intensity of exercise
  • Planning a power assisted exercise programme
  • Adapting exercise for specific conditions
  • Goal setting and progression of an exercise programme
