A sigh of relief could be heard across the UK when gyms and leisure facilities were given the green light to re-open at the end of July. Amongst those who welcomed the news included the team and members at Feelgood Ivybridge, a unique power assisted exercise centre which is proving to be a vibrant social hub within the local community.

Margot Davies who owns the facility commented, “We have been overwhelmed from the positive feedback from our members. Not only have they missed exercising here but they’ve really missed the friendships that they have developed”.

The centre which launched in October 2019 had attracted over a hundred members prior to lockdown, and since re-opening has not only welcomed back existing members but has attracted new members too! In fact the team have seen a 25% uptake in new memberships. The centre has also welcomed two qualified massage therapists who provide aromatherapy, remedial or hot stone massage, also foot reflexology and lymphatic drainage massage.

Margot added, “The health and safety of our members is the upmost priority. We have a booking system to ensure that we can leave a safe distance between members.  All people who enter our facility have their temperature taken and use hand sanitiser.  The machines and all surfaces are continuously wiped with an antibacterial agent and are treated every evening with a virucidal sanitiser”.

Although the social aspect is very much at the heart of Feelgood, members are finding excellent results from their exercise efforts!

Sam Dobson, Fitness Instructor at Feelgood commented “It’s incredibly rewarding to see some of the life changing results our members are experiencing, including Heather,  who has for the first time in a very long tome been able to get into her car without having to use a step.  She is moving around much more easily and can get on and off the machines unaided. Other members are seeing great results too, including Shirley who has lost 23″ in total including 6″ off her waist and 5″ off her hips and chest. It’s just incredible”

Not only is Feelgood a great place to exercise and socialise, it also gives back to the community. At present they have a donation box for the local food bank which is then passed on to the Ivybridge Lions.
